Dr. Shanti has been in practice for over thirty years as a spiritual counselor, life coach, holistic health consultant, movement and meditation instructor, ecotherapist and university teacher. In her work, she assists her clients and students in connecting to their inner wisdom and healing power and to the intelligent energy matrix of the living Earth.
She has a Ph.D. in psychology with a dissertation emphasis on the benefits of nature-based therapies. She also holds an MA from the University of New York, a B.A. with honors from UC Berkeley and a certification in Holistic Health. Further study includes East/West contemplative traditions, Western metaphysics, spiritual feminism, expressive arts, Jungian dream work/ sand-tray, body-energy therapies, Indigenous wisdom, Yoga, modern dance and T’ai Chi. As part of her contemplative path, she has had the opportunity to practice and meet with numerous spiritual leaders, including sages from India, Zen masters and the Dalai Lama.
Shanti is a co-founder of the Cedros Natural Health Center in Solana Beach, California and has served as an instructor at several universities, such as the University of New York, London, the California Institute of Human Science and the California Naturopathic College. In her many seminars and university classes, she has taught thousands of clients and students the principles and practices of holistic and natural health, the individuation/inner journey process, self-acceptance, healthy relationship/communication skills and the importance of consciously connecting to the Earth.
She has also taught Yoga and T’ai Chi at natural health resorts like The Golden Door, The Ashram and Rancho La Puerta. On an international level, she has facilitated workshops and retreats in England, Spain, Canada, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Oregon and California and she assisted Shirley MacLaine in leading a four-day retreat on the Higher Self.
She is a member of the International Ecotherapy Association, Friends of Jung, San Diego Children and Nature, the Sierra Club, Audubon, Arbor Day and the Pachamama Alliance in Equador. She resides in San Diego’s coastal North County with her family where she enjoys writing, gardening, communing with nature, birdwatching and being with her beloved orange cat.
Her fees are based on a sliding scale and she works with individuals, couples and groups.
